Our Mission
A Place of the Heart Nonprofit Organization is a 501c3 that provides an environment that encourages personal and spiritual growth. Through kindness to the earth, communal living, and a focus on the soul instead of material possession, we shift the paradigm from individual survival to interconnected living.
A Retreat Center for Alternative Healing and Multicultural Traditions
Spiritual Healing and Practices
A Place of the Heart Farm and Spiritual Retreat is honored to offer the community of Northeast Tennessee a space for transformation, healing, and love. Our approach is holistic, integrating vegetarian diet with community living, a connection to nature and her cycles, and Spiritual practice. We provide spiritual counseling through Evolutionary Astrology with Adrienne Gibson. Our lifestyle is founded upon reverent stewardship of the Earth.
We are currently utilizing this time of sheltering-in-place to upgrade our infrastructure as a Spiritual Retreat center. Some of our proposed future offerings are meditation retreats, yoga classes (including Greenhouse Yoga!), personal retreats, vegetarian cooking immersion courses, non-violent communication workshops, artist and writer retreats, and much more.
In addition to these offerings, we have held a periodic sweat lodge since 1987, following the tradition passed down by our Lakota family in South Dakota.
We will keep you posted on upcoming events.

Sign up for a CSA
Our CSA is a way to support the farm. Community Supported Agriculture is a method of distributing our fresh pesticide and artificial fertilizer free produce to the community. We practice no till farming which is gentle to the earth and the earth dwelling creatures. While it can be Labor intensive it allows us to teach these practices to our interns and volunteers and minimizes the use of fossil fuels. CSA 2023 will run 23 weeks from May 6th - October 7th. The CSA shares comes in two sizes, a whole share that contains 12 items per week and feeds a family of 4, or 2 vegetarians. A half share that contains 6 items per week and feeds a family of 2, or 1 vegetarian. Each week we will email a list of what is available and you will send us your choices. Then on Saturdays we will deliver your share. The pick up locations this year will be at the Printshop, ( 1532 Island Home Ave, Knoxville, TN 37920), and on the farm on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm. If you are going to be out of town please let us know and we can make alternative arrangements for getting your produce to you. Shares not picked up without prior notification up will be forfeited.
